FAQs

What is Museus?

Museus is an AI curator tool that answers any question a visitor may ask about the artworks in an exhibition or museum. Questions can be about each object or more generally about the artist who created them or the culture in which it was created.

It is trained on highly specialised information so that the answers are accurate, informative and very specialised.

How does Museus work?

Using their smart phone, a visitor scans the QR code next to an object, or enters its museum ID number, or name. Museus will show the artwork as a high quality and zoomable image, alongside general information about it. On a second tab, named ‘Caption’, the visitor can see the museum’s inventory data for this object, including its dimensions, date of creation, name of artist, material etc.

On the ‘Chat’ page, there are 4 ready-made questions, that the visitor can select, or they can type in any question they think of in the chatbox titled ‘Ask me anything’. Using AI trained on very specific data, they will receive an answer directly to their question.

Then, the visitor has the choice of getting an expanded answer if they tap the button ‘Tell me more’, or they can ask another question of their own.

How do I access Museus?

Once in a partner museum or cultural site, you can scan a QR code or go to museus.ai and go to the location under the tab ‘Partners’. You will be directed to the Museus web-app where you can explore all the works in the museum or go to individual pieces and find out more.

What data is the Museus trained on?

For each application, Museus is trained on the research of top art experts in collaboration with the museum or cultural institution it is working with. Working directly with the most significant authorities in the specific field means Museus provides information that is not available elsewhere.

Do I have to download an app?

No, Museus is accessible through a website. You will be directed to this website by scanning the QR codes in the museum.

Why is Museus so accurate?

Museus uses cutting edge RAG (retrieval augmented generation) AI which depends on carefully reviewed, closed domain data. This means the answers are not muddled by the trillions of facts on the entire internet, but rather are limited to the information that has been checked by experts.

Furthermore, we have developed programmes that dismiss any returned data that might conflict with the prompts with which the system has been trained, thus avoiding ‘ai hallucinations’ or misleading answers. In tests we have found near perfect accuracy in the generated responses.

What else can Museus do?

Museus brings some of the artworks to life with animations.

Visitors can ‘like’ artworks and then go back to them later to remember their favourites.

They can rate the answers that the AI generates with a thumbs up or down icon, providing invaluable feedback to the curators of the exhibition.

Is Museus accessible off-line?

No, Museus is only accessible with a good internet connection. It is only accessible in the museum or cultural site that offers it and can be accessed for a further 48 hours after your visit.

What’s with the bird logo?

The Museus logo is an egret with wings like the pages of a book. It represents the soaring heights of learning that you can ascend to on the wings of technology. Egrets are members of the Heron family and are known for their beautiful white feathers, their ability to stand very still and their tendency to migrate great distances across continents.

It is for these reasons that many cultures see them as symbols of purity and transformation; qualities Museus aspires to embody.
